Analyses of current budg-
etary needs, reviewed at the
annual budgeting confer-
ence of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, held at the new
Jewish Center, indicated the,
need for an increase of
$2,800,000 in Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund and local-na-
tional income will be needed
to provide for the rapidly
mounting obligations.
Presentations on the on-
coming needs for local and
national- educational and
social service obligations by
Mrs. Morris Brandwine,
Avern Cohn, David Handle ,
man, Dr. Conrad Giles and
Phillip Stollman showed
that continuation of the
services rendered by the var-
ious local agencies will re-
quire $420,500 more than
last year.
Phillip Stollman, in an
outline of the duties devolv
ing from the crises and de-
fense needs in Israel, stated
that the United Jewish Ap-
peal must ask for $100 mil-
lion more this year, and
, William Avrunin, in a sum-
mation, pointed out.that
this will obligate Greater
Detroit Jewry for an in-
crease of $2,380,000 in in-
come for UJA from the Al-
lied Jewish Campaign.
