Aircraft Industries has
completed the basic design
of a new air-superiority
fighter to replace the Mi-
rage 3, now the primary Is-
raeli air- force interceptor.
The new IAI fighter fea-

latest Soviet arms deal with
Syria calls for provision of
500 tanks, almost a 25 per-
cent increase in its present
number, the Baltimore Sun
reports.
Quoting U.S. intelligence
sources, the Sun said that
the new arms arrangement
is believed to have been
worked out last month dur-
ing Syrian President As-
sad's surprise visit to Mos-
cow.
