The Preros
More than 400 persons
honored Rabbi and Mrs.
Samuel H. Prero Wednes-
day evening at a testimonial
dinner at the main Jewish
Community Center.
The Preros will be work-
ing in Detroit and Israel fol-
lowing a 26-year association
with Young Israel here.
Participants in the pro-
gram included Rabbi
James I. Gordon of Young
Israel of Oak-Woods;
David S. Tanzman; Rabbi
Joshua S. Sperka, rabbi
emeritus of Young Israel
of Greenfield; Abbe Levi,
president of Young Israel
of Detroit in 1948 when
Rabbi Prero joined the
congregation; Seymour
Rabinowitz, president of
YI-Greenfield; Phillip
Stollman, president of YI-
Oak-Woods; and Rabbi
Feivel Wagner of YI-
Greenfield.
Rabbi Ephraim Sturm,
executive vice president of
the National Council of
Young Israel, gave the fea-
tured address, and warmly
lauded Samuel and Hadas-
sah Prero.
In his response, Rabbi
Prero thanked the audience
and outlined the theme of
Young Israel to continue to
be involved in community
life. He announced several
donations from himself and
his wife to Yeshiva Beth
Yehuda, Akiva Day School
and Young Israel of Green-
field and Southfield in
honor of the occasion.
