Flint Jewish Commu- nity Council voted over- whelmingly to bring re- cently released Soviet Jews Galina and Lrena Faermark to Flint. The council was urged to bring the mother and daughter to Flint since they have friends there and no family in the U.S. or Israel. Their husband and father, Victor, was prohibited from leaving the USSR. r 4.4 OBITUARIES Joseph Barkman Joseph Barkman of East Tawas died Nov. 26 at age 86. Mr. Barkman was a foun- der of the Iosco County His- torical Society and contrib- uted large collections of historical documents and old newspapers to the state and to Clarke Historical L . brary at Central Michiga University. He also contrib- uted- material and personal memoirs to the Michigan Jewish Historical Society which will appear in its forthcoming book on the history of the Jewish com- munity of Michigan.
