THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Jerusalem Museum Named for Benefactor Rockefeller The Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem is a name pop- ularly given to the Palestine Archeological Museum built in.Jerusalem during the Bri- . tish Mandatory Adminis- tration from a gift of $1 mil- lion by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who also gave another $1 million as an endowment fund. The building, designed by Austen St. B. Harrison, with stone plaques designed by Eric'Gill around the cen- tral court, stands in about 10 acres of land facing the northeast corner of the Old City walls. In addition to ex- hibition space, accommoda- tion was provided for study galleries, record offices, a library, auditorium, photo- graphic studio, workrooms, laboratories, storage rooms, and the offices of the de- partment of antiquities.
