CITY iteSOlucturt,
(Editor's note: the follow-
ing letter was addressed to
UN Secretary General Kurt
Waldheim, with copies to
President Gerald Ford
Michigan's U.S. Senators
and the news media.)
The United Nations Gen-
eral Assembly has recently
voted to condemn Zionism
as racism. We deplore the
resolution because we be-
lieve that Zionism is not rac-
ism. On the contrary, Zion-
ism is a movement to give
national dignity to a people
which has suffered the con-
sequences of Nazi racism.
We also deplore the reso-
lution because we believe in
the value of the UN and be-
cause we want it to survive
as a vehicle for world unity
and world peace. The UN
will destroy its credibility
as an international organi-
zation for peace if it is used
to propagate obvious false-
hood and to assault the de-
cent opinions of rational
people.
We affirm our continued
support for the good work of
the United Nations. We
want to help it succeed. We
therefore hope that you will
do whatever is possible to
influence the United Na-
tions General Assembly to
sane and useful discussion.

Editor, The Jewish News:
The motion that was
passed by the United Na-
tions on Nov. 10, 1975, stat-
ing that Zionism is racism,
in our opinion isn't right.
Zionism is the love of Israel,
returning to the land that

was promised to the Jewish
people. Racism is believing
that your race, or religion, is
superior to all others.
Zionism is the love of Is-
rael. Jews don't think that
they are superior to all oth-
ers, they just want to return
to the land that was prom-
ised to them.
