NEW YORK (JTA ) —
The Central Conference of
American Rabbis has sent a
request to its members to
stimulate attendance, at
services this weekend which
has been proclaimed the
"Shabat of Affirmation" in
response to the UN General
Assembly draft resolution
on Zionism and racism.
The proclamation was is-
sued by the Synagogue
Council of America and the
Conference of Presidents of
Major American Jewish
Organizations. The CCAR
said the goal was "to mass
all American Jews into the
synagogues all over the
country to witness our affir-
mation that Zionism is not
only not racism but is the
very opposite, inasmuch as
it is an expression of the fin-
est values in Judaism."

1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon rosemary leaves
'/4 teaspoon ground sage
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Planters Oil

Beat eggs until light and foamy.
Stir in the grated potatoes, grated onion, flour, seasonings and
herbs until thoroughly blended.
Heat about Vs to 1/4-inch depth of Planters Oil in a large heavy
skillet. For each latke. drop about 1/4 cup potato mixture into the
hot oil. Fry on each side- until golden brown. Add Planters Oil to
pan as needed to keep proper depth for frying.
Drain latkes well on absorbent paper.
Makes about sixteen latkes.

This Chanukah, lighten up those latkes! Perk
them up with herbs, then serve them hot with
apple sauce or sour cream. And see how good
they are with leftover Thanksgiving turkey.
Planters® Oil makes your lathes as light as can
be. That's because Planters is 100% pure peanut
oil. It's Kosher and Parve, so it's perfect for ev-
erything from blintzes and ruglach to Southern
fried chicken.
Make a batch of these light little latkes. And
have a Happy Chanukah!
