Blue Box Campaign
Leading Jewish women's
organizations in Greater
Detroit are participating in
the annual Jewish National
Fund Blue and White Box
clearance which is continu-
ing to Nov. 23, it was an-
nounced by Mrs. Frank
Silverman, chairman of the
Blue Box clearance commit-
tee.
Among organizations
which will take part in the
clearance are: Hadassah,
Pioneer Women, Northwest
Child Rescue; and the
Fanny Gluck, the Sisters of
Zion and Batya Chapters of
Mizrachi. Youth groups, in
eluding the AZA and BBG
of the Bnai Brith Youth
Organization will take part
in the campaign.
This year there will be a
concentration on the search
for "lost Blue Boxes." For

Dr. Goldsmith, professor
of English at Wayne State
University, will discuss au-
thors Joanne Greenberg,
Wallace Markfield, Bernard
Malamud and Hugh Nissen-
son. Text for the series is
"Jewish American Litera-
ture: An Anthology," edited
by A. Chapman.
Study sessions also will
be held Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and
18. There is a charge. For

Somalia Pleads
for Promised Aid
NEW YORK — Somalian
President Mohammad Siad
Barre has sent an urgent
message to the secretary
general of the Arab League,
saying a six-month old $103
million pledge of aid to re-
lieve his country's drought
situation had so far realized
only $17.5 million in actual
donations.
