Israel Military
Power Increased
LONDON (ZINS) — Is-
rael has substantially in-
creased its military capabil-
ities, according to the
Strategic Institute in Lon-
don, which reports that the
Israelis now have 2,700
tanks as compared with
1,900 a year ago.
The corps includes 450
tanks of American manu-
facture, 900 Englis} Centu-
rians and 615 tanks of So-
viet design that were
captured and refitted in the
last wars fought with the
Arabs.
Israel's air force, accord-
ing to the report, includes
461 U.S. Phantoms and Sky-
hawks as well as a large
number of French Mysteres
and Supermysteres. The
standing army is now
120,000 as compared with
110,000 last year.
Recently, Egypt received
50 Russian MIGS of the lat-
est design and its air force is
now said to be composed of
510 combat planes, while
the number of tanks is now
about 2,000. The Syrian
army has also been substan-
tially beefed up with the
number of soldiers in-
creased to 150,000 as corn-
pared with 125,000 last
year. The Syrians have 400
combat-ready planes, 1300
tanks, and 700 heavy can-
non.
Israel Population
Reaches Balance
"THE MOVING SPIRITS" GROUP
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
The government's central
statistical bureau has re-
leased data stating that by
1974 a balance had been
reached in population in
that there were 1,000 fe-
males for every 1,001 males.
Of all births 51.5 percent are
males.
For 1974 the average per
capita consumption was
3,057 calories daily as com-
pared with only 2,000 calor-
ies in 1959, and more than
50 percent of Jewish fami-
lies live in dwellings where
there is a ratio of one person
to a room.
Education Fund
Named for Pincus
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Someone once said of Lubavitch, "I like people who like people!" This expresses my
own feelings exactly. I am truly impressed with Lubavitch activities in Ann Arbor, on other
Michigan campuses, and with troubled and alienated youth in general. I urge you to
come and enjoy a great show, a great evening's entertainment, and thereby lend your
support to this vital organization. I look forward to welcoming you all on Wednesday.
