Spivak to Leave
`Meet the Press'

Lawrence Spivak, creator,
producer and moderator of
NBC-TV's "Meet the Press,"
will make his final appear-
ance on the program Nov. 9
on the 28th anniversary of
the series.
Spivak, who is going into
semi-retirement said he
plans to be an occasional
panelist.
His guest on the program
will be President_ Gerald
Ford, the first U.S. chief
executive to appear on the
program while still in office.
The special hour-long pro-
gram will be aired 11:30
a.m. Nov. 9 on Channel 4.

Two television programs
will spotlight the history of
Detroit's organized Jewish
community, announced
Joint Anniversary Celebra-
tion Committee chairman
Mrs. Philip R. Marcuse.
The community is com-
pleting a year-long celebra-
tion of the dual anniversa-
ries of the Jewish Welfare
Federation and the United
Jewish Charities.
Federation president
Mandell L. Berman and
community leaders George
M. Stutz and Mrs. Nathan
Peterman will be inter-
viewed on "Target" to be
aired 2 p.m. Saturday on
Channel 4 (WWJ-TV).
"Even A Stone Can Hear,"
the history of the United
Jewish Charities and the
Jewish Welfare Federation,
will be shown 4 p.m. Nov. 2
on Channel 7 (WXYZ) and 7
p.m. Nov. 4 on Channel 56
(WTVS). The half-hour spe-
cial is being produced by
WXYZ-TV and the Jewish
Community Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit.

the feature of the "It's Your
Turn" program to be seen 11
p.m. Monday on Channel 56.
Linda Gershenson, co-
chairman of the showcase,
will interview Ruth Dayan,
head of the crafts and fash-
ion center. Also appearing
will be Harriet Dunsky and
Sharon Sukenic.
Mrs. Dayan will show her
private collection of hand-
crafted jewelry, some of
which is more than 2,000
years old.
