Detroiter's Look at Investing
"Nothing Can Replace the
U.S. Dollar . . . and It Al-
most Has!" is the provoca-
tive title of a new book by a
29-year-old Detroit finan-
cial wizard M. Martin Rom.
The book, published by
Crowell, New York, is the
work of the head of Multi-
Vest Inc. in Southfield. The
firm, which Rom started at
the age of 22, did $35 million
in business last year.
A graduate of Mumford
High School and the Univer-
sity of Michigan, Rom left
medical school to start Mul-
tiVest. His book is divided
into two parts and explains
the whys and wherefores of
the economic world we live
in today and what the indi-
vidual can do about it.
H_e also has suggestions
for the U.S. government,
and explains why \he be-
lieves many of this country's
financial policies are wrong.
Rom's "Nothing Can Re-
place the U.S. Dollar . . .
and It Almost Has !" is an
easily read book. If nothing
else, it makes the reader
think about his personal fi-
nancial picture, which the
author claims is his major
purpose.

Meets Local Unit
October 24, 1975 41
He believes the present
stock market is a bad invest-
ment because inflation far
outweighs gains. He admits
that many economists be-
lieve him wrong, but he ad-
vocates investing in gold and
silver and gives instructions
on when to do it.
