VOL. LXVIII, No. 7

Once again the United Nations has been dragged into the gut-
ter by the actions of a majority at last Friday's meeting of the
Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee.
Every aspect of this committee was degraded — the social,
the cultural and the humanitarian.
The humane was relegated to the jungle and the beasts who
are bent upon destroying human values have emerged as the rul-
ers of the international organization.
The Jew is the chief target of this renewed vulgarity.
How can the targeted Jew respond to the new bestiality?
There is only one conceivable answer: solidarity in support of the
great libertarian movement out of which has developed the state
of Israel and the right of homeless Jews to national rebirth and
a return to their ancestral, territorial heritage.

Unity behind the Zionist movement, firm action in support of
the Zionist libertarian principles and adherence to the faith that
was inspired by Zionism are the only answers to the banalities
that receive credence from a combination of nations who do not
understand the human values applicable to all mankind.
Enrollment by all American Jews in the Zionist movement,
soladarity with the target of the insane who are destroying every
vestige of decency in the world is imperative.
Every Jew a member of the Zionist Organization and of a
related Zionist organization: this is the answer to the banalities
in which the Third World has enrolled the bigots of the Commun-
ist bloc and the anti-Semites who have survived the Nazis.
Let there be Zionist unity as a mark of unity in Jewish ranks
and as an answer to the bestialities of lunatic fringes that have
poisoned the global atmosphere.

Jewish Professor
Wins Nobel Prize

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., (JTA) — Prof.
David Baltimore, of the Massachusetts Insti-
tute of Technology, was one of three Ameri-
can cancer research experts who were jointly ,
awarded the 1975 Nobel Prize for Medicine
for their work on cancer viruses.
The Jewish MIT authority on viruses
-44/ shared the $145,000
prize with Dr. Renato
Dulbecco of Britain's
Cancer Research Fund
L aboratory, and How-
ard Temin of Wisconsin
University. The an-
nouncement of the
award was made in
Stockholm by the Royal
BALTIMORE
Caroline Institute, the
administrator of the award.

Dr. Baltimore, 37, is professor of mi-
crobiology at the Center for Cancer Re-
search at MIT. He and the other two men
shared the award for their discoveries
concerning viruses, specifically, the rela-
tionship between viruses and the "genetic
material of the cell."

According to the Royal Caroline Insti-
tute, it appears likely that viruses, the sub-
microscopic organisms that cause infections
in humans, will be found to be involved in the
appearance of at least certain tumors in
man.
Technology to study this possible rela-
tionship is now available, and the basis for
this examination has been provided by the
discoveries of the three Nobel Prize winners,
the Institute said.

WASHINGTON (JTA) — More than 320 members of the House of Representatives and a large number of U.S.

Senators endorsed a joint resolution thiS week informing the 142 member states of the United Nations of their condemna-
