Miss Brandeis, who used her maiden name profes- sionally, was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court in the early 1920s. Miss Brandeis shared her father's interest in and devotion to the Zionist idea and for some years was a participant in Hadassah's work. Her husband, the late Jacob H. UJA Study Group Pledges $8 Million JERUSALEM (JTA) — The 200 American Jewish leaders who participated in the eight-day Study Mission of the United Jewish Appeal which ended Sunday pledged nearly $8.5 million to the 1976 campaign. The participants spent their final day visiting set- tlements in the Golan Heights and Galilee regions. A graduate of Byrn Mawr College and the University of Chicago Law School, Miss Brandeis was admitted to the New York bar in 1921 and later that year was ap- pointed special assistant to the United States Attorney for the Southern District. She had practiced law here since 1922. Miss Brandeis met her She was a member of the State Board of Regents from 1935 to 1949. Subse- quently, Miss Brandeis became active in the af- fairs of Brandeis Univer- sity, named in honor of her father. The university made her a fellow in 1952 and in 1963 awarded he an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. The Jewish Forum Foun- dation in 1957 awarded her its annual Louis D. Bran- deis gold medal "for service to humanity." In her youn- ger days, soon after her graduation from Byrn Mawr, Miss Brandeis cham- paigned in Boston in 1916 for women's suffrage.
