Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has told a military-oriented au- dience in Huntsville, Ala., that the "United States is committed to the survival of the state of Israel but mili- tary factors favoring Israel diminish with time." He also told the Tennes- see Valley chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army that "the major unre- solved issues between the Arabs and Israelis could yet explode into a fifth war un- less further progress is made on the diplomatic front."
