The latter, according to the Jerusalem Post, in- cluded 35 expensive tractors purchased by the villagers of Majdal Shams who did not need them; six Mercedes-Benz cars; and large quantities of gold. They may end up wishing they had saved their cash. Contrary to foreign press reports, Israeli authorities insist that no decision has been reached on negotia- tions with Syria.
