Explosion Triggered at Home of Chief Rabbi in France

PARIS (JTA) — Terror-
ists set off an explosion of
pressurized gas at the home
of France's Chief Rabbi,
Jacob Kaplan Sept. 22.
No one was hurt and
property damage was slight.
A threatening letter, sent to
all Paris rabbis two weeks
ago, had announced the im-
minent attack on Rabbi
Kaplan.
Meanwhile, in Israel,
three Arab terrorists, who
had crossed into Israel from
Lebanon, were killed Sept.
26 in a fierce battle with Is-
raeli troops.

SANTIAGO, (JTA) —
Three top-ranking govern-
ment ministers visited the
main synagogue here during
Yom Kippur services to con-
vey the good wishes of Pres-
ident Augusto Pinochet to
the Jewish community on
the occasion of the High
Holy Days.
Prime Minister Cesar Be
navides, Defense Minister
Harman Brady and Health
Minister Francisco Herrera
were received at the syn-
agogue by Dr. Gil Sinay
president of the Chilean
Jewish Community, and
Chief Rabbi Angel Krei-
man.
The guests praised the
Jewish community for its
contributions to the recon-
struction of Chile's economy
and said they were pleased
to be in the temple on the
most sacred day of the Jew-
ish year. -
Dr. Sinay expressed the
Jewish community's satis-.
faction with the govern-
ment's policy of complete
religious freedom for all
creeds. The Sephardic Tem-
ple was visited on Yom Kip-
pur by Gen. Cesar Mendoza
who brought greetings from
the government.

They all had Kalachnikof

This was the seventh at-

Eckerd, the Republican
candidate who was soundly
defeated by Stone, ran ad-

a Jew.
The Bnai Brith Anti-Def-

George Bernstein, chair-
