NEW YORK — About 500
delegates from throughout
the nation will gather at the
annual national convention
of American Mizrachi
Women Oct. 19-22 in Wash-
ington, D.C. The group will
also celebrate its 50th anni-
versary.

Among the events slated
for the golden jubilee con-
vention are addresses by top
Israeli and American gov-
ernment officials; presenta-
tion of the 1975 America-
Israel Friendship Award;
Bicentennial service awards
to distinguished Americans
for their contributions to
American society and their
friendship to the state of
Israel; and the premiere
showing of a multi-media
presentation "The Golden
Harvest" presenting the his-
tory of the organization's
first half century.
Critical issues facing
World Jewry, such as aid to
Israel, the struggle for So-
viet Jewry, aliya and Jews
in Arab lands will be dis-
cussed.

Detroit Alumni Chapter
of the Alpha Omega Dental
Fraternity will celebrate its
50th anniversary Oct. 3 and
4 with a Shabat service,
scientific seminar and din-
ner-dance.
The Shabat services will
be held Oct. 3 at Cong. Bnai
Moshe. Rabbi Moses Lehr-
man, spiritual leader of the
synagogue, will speak on
"The Role of Alpha Omega
in Fashioning a New
World." An oneg Shabat
will follow, sponsored by
Detroit Women of Alpha
Omega.
The Detroit alumni chap-
ter is a professional dental
organization composed of
more than 400 active Jewish
dentists. The chapter has
contributed efforts toward
the Hebrew University Den-
tal School, Brandeis Univer-
sity, Allied Jewish Cam-
paign, Israel Bonds and the
dental schools of the Univ-
ersities of Detroit and Mich-
igan. The chapter also devel-
oped a program to provide
Russian immigrants with
dental care.

Israel Appoints
New NY Consul
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Gen. (Res.) Uri Ben-Ari, a
former tank commander,
has been appointed Israel's
Consul General in New
York.
He succeeds David Rivlin
who was appointed Ambas-
sador to Norway earlier this
year.
The Cabinet also an-
nounced the appointment of
veteran diplomat Hanan
Baron to the post of Minis-
ter at the Israeli Embassy
in Washington.
