Christians Concerned for Israel

Christians Concerned For
Israel joins in the struggle
to defend Israel and guaran-
tee her independence and
freedom.
There are 7,200 members
who finance and distribute
the CCI notebook which is
published by Dr. Franklin
H. Littel, chairman of the
group, and professor of his-
tory and director of gradu-
ate studies in religion at
Temple University.
Dr. Littel's latest book,
published by Harper and
Row, is called "The Crucifix-
ion of the Jews."

Christians Concerned
for Israel hopes to expand

Dr. and Mrs. Mathew
Borovoy will host a recep-
tion 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Lin-
coln Tower Apts. club room
in honor of Dr. Alfred I.
Sherman who recently re-
ceived nationwide news cov-
erage for an innovative re-
search technique related to
fetus heart and lung move-
ment that he is conducting
at Sinai Hospital. The re-
ception will be held on be-
half of State of Israel
Bonds.
A native of Toronto, Dr.
Sherman was graduated
from the University of To-
ronto's school of medicine
and served in the Canadian
Army as a captain during
World War II.
For 20 years, he taught at
Washington University in
St. Louis as professor of
obstetrics and gynecology.
While living in St. Louis,
Dr. Sherman was active in
the Israel Bond campaign as
Israel Bond chairman of
Cong. Bnai Amoona.

He has held a number of
appointments including
civilian consultant to the
United States Air Force at
Scott Air Force Base, di-
plomate of obstetrics and
gynecology and professor
of obstetrics and gynecol-
ogy at Wayne State Uni-
versity.

to Police Panel

Mayor Young Tuesday
nominated Avern Cohn to
the five-inember Detroit
Board of Police Commis-
sioners.
Cohn, 51, a politically ac-
tive and influential Detroit
attorney, was named to re-
place UAW Vice President
Douglas Fraser, who re-
signed.
Cohn has served as chair-
man of the Michigan Civil
Rights Commission, na-
tional vice president of the
American Jewish Commit-
tee and director of United
Community Services. He is
also very active in the Jew-
ish community..
