A native Detroiter, living in New York, Miss Berris is program director for the National Commission for U.S.-China Relations. Following gradua- tion she did research on Chinese. Prior to her association with the commission, she was a foreign service officer with the State Department. She had intensive training in the Chinese language and was stationed in Hong Kong for two years. She joined the commis- sion upon her return from Hong Kong.
