Mrs. Asher Buchhalter dedicated the Asher Buch-
halter Grove of 1,000 trees in memory of her husband
during her visit to Israel as a member of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund Study Mission. The grove was planted
through the JNF in the John F. Kennedy Peace Forest
near Jerusalem. Participating in the dedication with
Mrs. Buchhalter were her daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ford
and Mrs. Helene Engel, and Mrs. Buchhalter's sister,
Mrs. Naomi Floch. Mr. Buchhalter, a native of Michi-
gan, spent most of his life in Detroit and for many years
was a teacher in the Detroit Public School System. He
taught mathematics and science at Cass Technical High
School. He was active as a member of Pisgah Lodge of
Bnai Brith, and was a supporter of the JNF and of Is-
rael.
