NEW YORK — Six new
firms were added and 11
dropped from the Arab boy-
cott list during a recent revi-
sion of the boycott commis-
sion's blacklist.
Among those added to the
list were Mohawk Rubber
and its 15 subsidiaries and
Nile Industries, a Swedish
clothing firm. Both con-
cerns will be barred from

cluded three U.S. miltina-
tional firms with 100 sub-

goub refused to reveal the
names of the companies in
order to protect them from
"a Zionist anti-boycott
campaign."

According to a recent

attempting to get its name
removed from the list, was
thought to be one of the 11.
However, the company said
it received no notice to that
effect.

motive operations, said that
Ford executives have been
discussing "possible busi-
ness ventures" with Egyp-
tian officials for several
months, but was unable to
estimate the cost of the
projects.
Hausman said Ford will
maintain its links with Is-
rael. "Ford products in Is-
rael are assembled and sold
by an independent dealer-
ship in which Ford does not
have a financial interest,"
Hausman said. "This is an
arrangement we also have
with dealers in Tunisia and
Morocco. Ford Motor Co.
has no intention of with-
drawing from its present
commercial activities in Is-
rael."
In a related development,
Saudi Arabia's leading fin-
ancier, Aonan Khashoggi,
said he prevented the North-
rop Corp. from bribing the
commanding general of the
Saudi air force by pocketing
the money himself.
Northrop documents re-
leased in June said the
plane-building firm had
made the payment of
$250,000 on Khashoggi's
demand to pay off Gen.
Hashim Hashim, now re-
tired. However, Khash-
oggi said it was North-
rop's idea to buy the
general's cooperation in
approving arms contracts

gress' national governing
council, declared:
"Who is Secretary Morton
protecting?
"Obviously, no company
which has rejected a boycott
demand is likely to be ex-
posed 'to economic pres-
sures and counter-boycotts
by certain domestic con-
sumer groups.' Thus, the
companies whose sensitivi
ties and competitive pos.
tion Secretary Morton I_
trying to preserve are those
which are defying the legis-
latively declared national
policy by yielding to the
boycott."
Squadron noted that the
Export Administration
Act of 1965, which states
the U.S. government's
anti-boycott policy and
requires the filing of re-
ports on boycott requests,
does not require domestic
companies to comply with
the policy.
But, he said, "government
officials may not ignore it
or, worse, take steps to as-
sure non-complying domes-
tic concerns that they will
be protected from adverse
effects."
Squadron added:
"The 'certain domestic
consumer groups' referred
to by Secretary Morton may
well include the American
Jewish Congress and its of-
ficers who speak for a large
number of American Jews
who are adversely affected
by the Arab boycott—both
as American businessmen
and as Jews.
"The impact of the boy-
cott on the American econ-
omy has recently increased
sharply as a result of the
sudden flow of money to oil-
rich Arab states. Individual
citizens — Jewish and non-
Jewish — have a right, as
citizens, to combat the boy-
cott's restrictive distortion
of the economy in which
they operate. -
"Accordingly,
the
Khashoggi said he had
kept the money to prevent
Northrop "from putting it-
self in a bad position" by
doing something "stupid."
Besides, he said, "I didn't
think the general had
earned it." Khashoggi repre-
sents many leading Ameri-
can and European defense
contractors in Saudi Arabia.

gress has asked "who is Sec-

The AJCongress' criti-

Rep. Harley 0. Staggers,
chairman of the commerce

news reports quoted Sec-
