Lookstein, the university's chancellor, who announced that Rabbi Karpol Bender, executive vice chairman of Bar-Ilan's international board of overseers who is in charge of Diaspora affairs, will take over the univer- sity's offices in New York this summer from where he will direct the institution's overseas activities _during the coming year. Rabbi Bender's primary tasks will be to revitalize the university's fund-raising and overseas student re- cruitment activities as well as to deal with the univer- sity's summer study pro- grams and alumni associa- tions. Hadassah-WIZO women in every community, 16,000 strong, will collect dis- carded items containing any kind of valuable metal capa- ble of being recycled. The resulting concentrate will be sold at current market prices for re-use by indus- tries requiring precious metals. In announcing the "Great Goldsweep," Mrs. B. M. Bloomfield, national presi- dent, urged every Jewish household to participate in this collection as a means of providing extra dollars to relieve the economic hard- ship suffered by many fami- lies in Israel.
