TEL AVIV (JTA) — The
Tel Aviv University has de-
cided to establish an inter-
national center for develop-
ment to be named after the
late Pinhas Sapir, the for-
mer Finance Minister and
chairman of the Jewish
Agency and World Zionist
Organization Executives
who was also a founder of
the Tel Aviv University.

Tennis Marathon
to Benefit MDA

Howard Zipser and Mi-
chael Blau will hold a 24
hour tennis marathon to
raise money for the Muscu-
lar Dystrophy Association,
beginning 6 p.m. Sunday at
the Oak Park Major Park
tennis courts.

Pledges and donations

became the bride of Dr.
Stuart Jon Speckler in a re-
cent ceremony at Temple
Israel. Rabbi M. Robert
Syme officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. Albjet N. Kaufman
of -W. 12 Mile Rd., South-
field, and Mrs. Victor S. Ax-
elroad of Lockridge Rd.,
Bloomfield Hills. Parents of
the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur I. Speekler of
Cherry Hill, N.J.
The bride wore a white
lace gown accented with
pearls and trimmed with ro-
sepointe. She carried white
orchids and Stephanotis.
Mrs. Jerome Kaufman
was matron of honor. Deb-
orah Herman was maid of
honor and Abigail Kauf-
man was bridesmaid.
Dr. Floyd F. Speckler was
his brother's best man. Wil-
liam Mark Speckler, brother
of the bridegroom, and Jer-
ome A. Kaufman, brother of
the bride, were ushers.
Following a Bermuda ho-
neymoon, the couple will
live in Massachusetts.

Argentine Jews
Declare Crisis

BUENOS AIRES (JTA)
— A special assembly of
representatives of Argen-
tine Jewry, under the aus-
pices of the Argentine Fed-
eration of Jewish Com-
munities, has declared that
Jewish institutional life is
in a state of emergency and
established priorities in
dealing with the crisis.
The priorities call for
schools being helped first,
then health centers, reli-
gious bodies, followed by
other institutions.
An emergency committee
headed by Dr. Mario Goren-
stein, president of the Fed-
ion and the Buenos
es Kehilla, was set up to
deal with the problem. The
plight of Jewish institutions
because of the economic
crisis in Argentina was also
deplored last week at a con-
ference of the Argentine La-
bor Zionist Movement.
Dr. Go•enstein told the
assembly that the Argen-
tine Jewish community
should he able to find means
of meeting the economic
crisis faced by Jewish insti-
tutions before appealing for
aid from abroad. Alfredo
Berlfein, representative of
the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee, stressed that over-
lapping and duplication
should be avoided by insti-
tutions here.

Harry and Sarah Levine
of Lauder Ave. will cele-
brate their 60th wedding an-
niversary Monday at a fam-
ily party at the home of
their son Aaron, of Concord
Ave., Southfield.
The party will also be at-
tended by their children,
Dr. Hyde Leland of Ana-
heim, Calif., and Dr. Dora
Levine of Detroit, and four
grandchildren.
Mr. Levine owned the
Boston Paper Co. until his
retirement, and is very ac-
tive in senior citizens groups
at the Jewish Community
Center. He is a life member
of Craftsman Lodge.

engagement of their daugh-
ter Bryna-Lynn Cooper-
man to Bruce Mitchell Fel-
stein, son of Mr. and Mrs.

wedding is planned.

Kissinger Meets
Jewish Leaders

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Israeli Ambassador Simcha
Dinitz and a delegation of
the Conference of Presi-
dents of Major American.
Jewish Organizations held
separate meetings last week
with Secretary of State
Henry A. Kissinger on the
eve of his latest diplomatic
mission to the Middle East.
Among those present
were: Rabbi Israel Miller,
chairman of the Presidents
Conference, Max Fisher,
chairman of the board of
governors of the Jewish
Agency; Rabbi Arthur
Hertzberg, president of the
American Jewish Congress;
Elmer Winter, president of
the American Jewish Com-
mittee; David Blumberg,
president of Bnai Brith;
Frank Lautenberg, general
chairman of the United
Jewish Appeal, and Yehu-
dah Hellman, executive di-
rector of the Presidents
Conference.

MRS. ROSENFELD

Diane Lynne Goldberg
became the bride of Dr. Joel
Rosenfeld in a recent cere-
mony at Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue. Rabbi Seymour
Rosenbloom officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gold-
berg of R-idgecliff Dr.,
Southfield. Parents of the
bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Saul Rosenfeld of Los
Angeles, Calif.
Cheryl Gutov was her sis-
ter's matron of honor. Best
man wasfCorky Rosenfeld,
brother of the bridegroofn.
The couple is living in Cal-
ifornia.

Announcing the decision,
which was approved by the
university senate and execu-
tive council, the university
president Professor Haim
Ben-Shachar, said that the
center will provide a frame-
work for all academic activi-
ties of the university, as
well as for researchers and
scholars in the fields of eco-
nomic, social and cultural
development from all parts
of the world.

(JTA) — Hassan Sabri el-
Kholi, an aide to Egyptian
presidents for more than
10 years, has been named
special representative in the
Middle East for UNICEF.
Henry R. Labouisse, UNI-
CEF director, said el-Kholi
would visit Arab capitals to
discuss UNICEF programs
and the role of mothers and
children in national eco-
nomic development.
