Dr. Plotkin is a noted lec-
turer, scholar and specialist
in Middle Eastern affairs. A
former officer in the Israel
Defense Forces, Dr. Plotkin
has achieved status as an ex-
pert in international rela-
tions, international law and
comparative government.
At the dinner Dr. and
Mrs. Spalter will be pre-
sented with the coveted
David Ben-Gurion Award.
Dr. Spalter is co-chairman
of the optometric section of
Israel Bonds. Mrs. Spalter is
Israel Bond chairman of
Sharona Chapter of Pioneer
Women and was recently
chairman for the 1975 Pi-
oneer Women Israel Bond

The senior Pearlman, and
his wife, Ruth, are the
grandparents of six. A re-
tired school teacher, Pearl-
man is a life member of
Craftsman lodge of the Ma-
sons, Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue and Hannah Schloss
Old Timers. In 1973 he re-
ceived a golden anniversary
in education diploma from
Wayne State University.

Founded in 1948, the Mid-
rasha has been concerned
almost exclusively with
teacher training for the
Jewish schools of this area.
While it has in the past ac-
comodated pupils without
professional aspirations in
Jewish education, the Focus
of the Midrasha's program
has generally been Jewish
education.
The school will retain this
function while at the same
time expanding its activites
to become a Jewish commu-
nity college for adult study
in the greater Detroit area.
In addition to its regular
schedule of course work for
adults, professional or oth-
erwise, the Midrasha will
offer Jewish organizations
the opportunity to arrange
for special courses for their
memberships, either on the
premises of•the college or at
a time or place of the organ-
ization's choosing.
New this year also is a
mentor system by which ad-
