Israel Delegation Will Discuss IPU Parley Attendance Issue

JERUSALEM — Foreign
Minister Yigal Allon, the
Knesset Speaker and the
five Knesseters who are due
to represent Israel at the
inter-parliamentary union
meeting in London Sept. 3
will meet next week to con-
sider anew whether the Is-
rael Knesset delegation
should in fact attend the
meeting now that the PLO's
attendance is certain.
The meeting was ar-
ranged following Knesseter
Abba Eban's application to
Premier Rabin and the cabi-
net for a clear guildline on
whether the government
favors participation in such
events. Eban is due to head
the Israeli Knesset delega-
tion which also comprises
Ora Namir and Moshe Car-
mel of Labor and Elimelech
Rimalt and Yohanan Bader
of Likud.
Sunday, upon Foreign
Minister Allon's recommen-
dation, the cabinet resolved
that Israel would not attend
the UN crime parley in Ge-
neva because the PLO was
to attend it. (The Canadian
government had renounced
its original role of hdst be-
cause of PLO attendance
and the crime parley — a
five-yearly UN event, was
shifted from Toronto to
Geneva).

Eban did not indicate in
his letter to Rabin his own
opinion on whether the
Israeli delegation should
attend.

The British press has
been energetically — and al-
most wholly negatively —
discussing the issue of PLO
participation at the IPU
meeting, which had been de-
cided upon at the IPU exec-
utive session in Colombo,
Sri Lanka, last April.
