sonic pilot, known as auto-
commander, capable of re-
lieving fighter and bomber
pilots of their mechanical

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Foon,
former Detroiters of Miami
Beach, Fla., were honored
by their children and grand-
children at a party in the
Carlyle Towers Apts. on the
occasion of their 50th wed-
ding anniversary.
Their children are Dr. and
Mrs. Herman Foon, Dr. and
Mrs. Irving Foon and Mr.
and Mrs. Bernard Hammer.
The senior Foons have seven
grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Foon came
to Detroit from Kiev, Rus-
sia, 52 years ago. Out-of-
town guests were from Mi-
ami Beach and Buffalo,
N.Y.

ZOD Names
42 Delegates

The Zionist Organization
of Detroit has named 42 de-
legates to attend the annual
convention of the Zionist Or-
ganization of America, the
parent organization, to be
held in Chicago Oct. 2-5, Dr.
Theodore Mandel, president
of ZOD, announced this
week.
Dr. Mandel stated that
enrollment of patrons and
sponsors has commenced
for the annual Balfour Con-
cert to he held Nov. 8 at
Ford Auditorium, with the
Israeli pianist, Pinhas Zuck-
erman, as soloist with the
Detroit Symphony Orches-
tra.
The ZOD executive board,
at a meeting Aug. 6, at the
Zionist Cultural Center,
adopted a resolution com-
mending the national ZOA
president, Dr:Joseph Stern-
stein, for his dedicated la-
bors for the Zionist cause.
The ZOD resolution, pre-
sented by Louis Panush,
commended the national
president for untiring la-
bors in defense of Israel and
in mobilizing- Jewish forces
to assure support for the
Jewish state during recent
critical experiences.
