Nathan V. Miller Jacob Schnaider,

Nathan V. Miller, owner
of the Miller Parking Co.
here and the Chicago Serv-
ice Parking Co. in Chicago,
died July 17 at age 76.
Born in Boston. Mr.
Miller lived 52 years in De-
troit. He was a member of
Temple Israel, a member
and past president of the
National Parking Associa-
tion and a member of the
hoard and a past president
of the Businessmen's Club
of the Downtown YMCA.
He resided at 23717 River-
side, Southfield.
He leaves his wife, Fan-
nie; two sons, Bruce and
Gordon of Chicago; a sister,
Mrs. Joseph (Rose) Jacobson
of Brockton, Mass.; and four
grandchildren.

Bernard Kasky

Bernard W. Kasky; a re-
tired electrician, died July
20 at age 72.
Born in London, England,
Mr. Kasky lived in the U.S.
for 47 years. He was a mem-
ber of Louis Marshall Lodge
of Bnai Brith and the Senior
Adult Club at the Jewish
Community Center. He re-
sided at 16551 Woodingham.
He is survived by his wife,
Lylian; two sons, Marvin
and Michael; two brothers,
Harry Kay of Tornoto and
Arthur Kay of Bakersfield,
Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ar-
thur (Helen) Torby of Ft.
Lauderdale and Mrs. Mur-
ray (Muriel) Scharff of Den-
ver.

RIO DE JANEIRO (JTA I
— Jacob Schnaider, foun-
der Of the first Zionist

group. "Tiferet Zion," in Rio
de Janeiro in 191:3, died
here, at age 88.
.Schnaider arrived in Rio
de Janeiro from Bessarabia
in 1903 while there were
only a few Jewish families
in Rio.
He was the founder of

more than a dozen commu-
nity institutions and was

considered one of the most
influential community lead-
ers.
He was particularly
known for his activity in the
Keren Hayesod for half a
century.

Bella Ackerman

Bella Ackerman, mother
of Cantor Shabtai Acker-
man of Cong. Beth Abra-
ham-Hillel and David Ack-
erman of Brussels, died July
13 in Israel at age 86.
Mrs. Ackerman was born
in Kishnev, Russia, mig-
rated to Israel with her sons
in 1950 and lived in Tel Aviv

for the past 25 years with
the exception of three years
in the late 50s where she
was a resident of Detroit.
Mrs. Ackerman is sur-
vived by her two sons, seven
grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.

Bruce Spilker, 54

Bruce E. Spilker, a man-
ager of the Lafayette Radio
Shop in Orchard Lake and
former owner of the Reno
Radio Inc. in downtown
Detroit, died July 22 at age
54.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Spilker resided at 24740
Pierce, Southfield. He
leaves his wife, Lillian; two
daughters, Mrs. Richard
(Nancy) Maddin and Susan;
his mother, Mrs. Edward
(Jennie) Spilker; and a
brother, Michael P.

Israel to Pay
Birth Bonuses

JERUSALEM (JTAI —
The Jewish Agency Execu-
tive has decided to pay birth

bonuses to new immigrant
mothers who do not qualify
for the payments made by
the Social Insurance Insti-
tute to new mothers gener-
ally in Israel.
The Executive's decision
is intended to provide immi-
grant mothers with social
henefits equal to those they
were entitled to in their
countries of origin and to
end what amounted to dis-
crimination in this area be-
tween newcomers and the
settled population
