THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Flint Area News Flint Family Joins UJA Israel Tour Milton and Gloria Siegel and their children visited Israel this month, partici- pating in tne second annual United Jewish Appeal Young Leadership Cabinet Family Mission to Israel. Highlights of the mission included: a three-day re- treat with Israeli young leaders and their families; a ecial ceremony atop Ma- sada; meetings with newly- arrived Soviet immigrants at absorption centers; and visits to kibutzim to study the kibutz way of life. In addition to visiting key Comings ... I and Goings ... Leonard A. Fink was among 11 theater students at the University of Michi- gan-Flint awarded the first scholarships made possible by the Mallery Charitable Trust. The awards were based on interviews, audi- tions, community and uni- versity involvement. Richard S. Heitzner, di- rector of college relations at Mott Community College, has been named chairman of the national two-year col- lege committee of the Coun- cil for Advancement and Support of Education. Heitzner is chairman of the Jewish Community Coun- cil's community relations committee. Caroline Panzer has been elected treasurer of the Friends of WFBE. Harry Block, 79 Harry Block, a longtime Flint jeweler, died recently at age 79. Mr. Block joined his brothers in operating the former Block Brothers, Shaw Jewelers and A. Lee Brown jewelry stores. He helped manage the A. Lee Brown store until his retire- ment 10 years ago. He was a member of Tem- ple Beth El and a life mem- ber of the Bay City Consis- tory, Shrine Temple and the Elks. He also was a member of the Fenton and Davison Shrine Clubs, the Crescent Shrine Club of Detroit, the Williams Gun Club and the National Trap Shooting As- sociation. He is survived by three brothers, Saul of South Bend, Ind., and Jacob and George; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Baum and Mrs. Rose Rubin of Colum- bus. A. Steinman, 70 Abraham Steinman, manager of Same Day Cleaners, died July 10 at age 70. Born in Scranton, Pa., Mr. Steinman was a Flint resident for most of his life. He was a member of the Flint Elks and the United Commercial Travelers. He resided at 208 Ambassador Arms West. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; three brothers, Harry of Pittsburgh, Irvin of Southfield and Morris; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Freedland of Miami and Mrs. Florence Marcus of Philadelphia. Festival Dancers to Have Program Margolis Household Furniture The Festival Dancers, di- rected by Harriet Berg, will present their touring show "Art Moves" 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bela Hubbard Library. The per- formance is free of charge and open to the public. The mixed media show, which was developed by Mrs. Berg, Becky Malm and Jennifer Pethick uses slides, music and movement to illu- minate concepts and ideas about the contemporary arts.
