Joseph Greenberg Celebrates 90th

Joseph Greenberg cele-
brated his 90th birthday
July 4. Greenberg and his
wife, Ida, reside on Chan-
ning Road in Ferndale. He
was born in Detroit, one of
10 children of Isaac Green-
berg who arrived here from
Poland in 1878.
Isaac Greenberg was a
charter member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek, and Joseph
was Bar Mitzva in 1898 at
the synagogue on Congress
and St. Antoine.
Greenberg studied sur-
veying in night school and
began his career in 1914. He
received his engineering cer-
tificate from the University
of Michigan in 1938.
Among the many sites he
surveyed over the 50 years
he pursued his profession
was the Chicago Blvd. loca-
tion of Cong. Shaarey Ze-
dek.

Mizrachi Group
to Host Speaker

Bezalel Gordon will speak
to the Religious Zionist Or-
ganization, Mizrachi, 8:30
p.m. July 20 at Young Israel
Center of Oak-Woods.
Gordon recently returned
from a 12 month trip ar-
ound the world where he
gathered material concern-
ing hidden Jewish commu-
nities, particularly in the
Far East. He will speak on
"The Wandering Jew -
1975."
Guests are invited, and
refreshments will be served.

Helen Ring of Southfield
was recently chosen by ra-
dio station WIID as
"Woman of the Week." She
is a volunteer at the 10 Mile
Jewish Community Center
and also is active on behalf
of Israel Bonds.

garden of 100 trees in Israel
at a family gathering at the
home of Dr. Joel I. Ham-
burger, grandson. of Green-
berg's sister Mary (Harris).
