Detroit, the Jewish spokes- man at the press conference and the religious ministers' gathering, commenting on the issue currently raised by judges' decisions relating to busing and integration con- flicts, declared that "we have to accept, in practice and principle, the court de- cisions and we must abide by the law." He qualified his state- ment by adding that when there is a difference of opin- ion with a judge's decision there is a perfect right to say so and to strive "without violence" for changes in ju- dicial rulings. The basic inspiration for Wednesday's meeting was to assure an avoidance of ex- periences like that of Boston and to strive to prevent both violence and abuse of legal procedures.
