Glory of Sabbath

There are higher objects
in life than success. The
Sabbath, with its exhorta-
tion to the worship of God
and the doing of kindly
deeds, reminds us week by
week of these higher ob-
jects.
It prevents us from reduc-
ing our life to the level of a
machine. The gathered ex-
perience of mankind that
the break in the routine of
work one day in seven will
heighten the value of the
very work itself is not
lightly to be put aside.

Night Weddings

Some people insist upon
getting married only at
night.
One reason for this is that
there seems to be some de-
sire to get married under
the stars. The stars seem to
be representative of the Al-
mighty's blessing to Abra-
ham who wished for him
that he multiply to have his
seed as numerous as the
stars in heaven.
There is also a practical
reason. Since people work
during the day and wed-
dings preferably invite a
large number of family and
friends, the night is prefera-
ble for weddings so that
more people will find it pos-
sible to attend the wedding.
