Martins' Communal Services Cited at Shaarey Zedek Event for Bonds

American College of Psychi-
atrists, were presented with
the coveted Jerusalem City
of Peace Award, Monday, at
the annual Shaarey Zedek
Israel Bond dinner.
Dr. and Mrs. Martin were
selected for the honor "in
recognition of their many
communal and congrega-
tional tasks" here during
the past three decades.
David Pollack, chairman
of the Detroit Israel Bond
Committee, making the
presentation, joined with
the leadership of Shaarey
Zedek in giving recognition
to the honored couple's de-
voted identifications with
Jewry's major movements.

Mrs. Martin affirmed
their uninterrupted devo-
tions to efforts for syn-
agogue, community and
Israel.

Rabbi Irwin Groner, prin-
cipal speaker of the evening,
first analyzed Israel's eco-
nomic needs which are
being greatly relieved with
loans provided by Israel
Bonds, and urged increased
support for the Bond ef-
forts.

In supplementary re-
marks, later in the evening's
program, Rabbi Groner paid
glowing tribute to the hono-
rees for unparalleled devo-
tions to synagogue and com-
munity. He called attention
to an importance in the date
of the evening's event, since
it marked the 35th anniver-
sary of the Martins' mar-
riage. They were wed in the
Chicago-Lawton synagogue
and the late Rabbi A. M.
