Pelavin Heads Flint Council Will Have Diving Instruction Camp Jody Makrouer, director of Camp Maccabee, an- nounces an addition this year will be diving instruc- tion by Brian Kronick. Pelavin was re-elected president of the Flint Jewish Community Council recently by its board of governors. Also elected were: Lawr- ence Covitz, honorary vice- president; Murray Moss, Ira Marder and Rosabeth Schupack, vice presidents; Betty Indianer, treasurer; and Brian Beck, secretary. Mrs. Schupack, Marder, Moss and Pelavin have held their positions for two years, Covitz for our years. Factor-Hourvitz Rites Solemnized Sidnee Ilene Hourvitz and Ken N. Factor were married June 22 at Temple Beth El. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hourvitz of Pewanga P1. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Factor of Philadelphia, Pa. Robin Hourvitz was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were sisters of the bride Rochelle Kahn and Kim Hourvitz, and Evie Engelman and Mindie Fac- tor. Mitchell Factor was his brothers'- best man. Ush- ers were Paul Kahn, How- ard Factor, Joe Fedor- chick and Dave Ziegart. The couple will live in Philadelphia where Mr. Factor attends the Pennsyl- vania College of Optometry. Comings .. . Jon Pines was selected as one of 10 members of the 1975 All-City Baseball team. Jon, a pitcher, was also chosen for the second team of the Saginaw Valley West. The Flint Jewish Commu- nity Council Men's Baseball team lost its first game against St. Mark Lutheran, but beat Flint Baptist Tem- ple. The men will play 6 p.m. July 10 at Bassett. Arabs to Seek `Moslem Vatican' in Old Jerusalem FJCC to Aid Vietnamese The Flint Jewish Commu- nity Council Board of Gov- ernors atits recent meeting authorized the FJCC to aid in the resettlement of Viet- namese refugees in the Flint area. Among other Council business, Saul Gorne, chair- man of the Jewish Family Service Committee, re- ported that of the three Russian families sponsored by the Council two have ar- rived in the U.S. and are bing supported by relatives. Three films on Israel are available from the Council, including "Boundaries Against War," "The Palesti- nians and the PLO" and "Jerusalem Dig." For infor- mation, call the Council of- fice. The Council will offer an advanced education pro- gram on Jewish history and culture during the 1975-1976 school year. Profs.
