AIPAC Gets Local Support
Pointing to "a spate of
columnists and commenta-
tors' critical analyses of cur-
rent events affecting Is-
rael," I. L. Kenen, editor
emeritus of Near East Re-
port and honorary chairman
of the American Israel Pub-
lic Affairs Committee, ad-
dressing Detroit partici-
pants in AIPAC activities,
nevertheless indicated hope-
ail signs on Capitol Hill.
Kenen addressed the an-
nual luncheon meeting of
the Detroit AIPAC group at
"andard Club, June 4.
owing the events that
led to the present develop-
ments, Kenen expressed a
measure of confidence in
congressional attitudes.

VISTAS OF ISRAEL
I. L. KENEN
He indicated the positive
aspects in the letter to
President Ford by 76 mem-
bers of the U.S. Senate as
a necessity in providing
emphasis on the support
vital for Israel in the cur-
rent negotiations and re-
futed some views regard-
ing a reported erosion in
American interest in Is-
rael.
Brad Doner, co-chairman
of the local AIPAC group
with Morris Brandwine,
presided at the luncheon
and urged increasing sup-
port for the movement's ef-
forts to provide information
on conditions in the Middle
East. Lewis Grossman
joined Doner in a supple-
mentary appeal for support
to AIPAC and the 90 parti-
cipants present subscribed
to a generous fund as De-
troit's annual gift.
