1 Hurt in Attack on Kiryat Shmona

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Kir-
yat Shmona came under a
pre-dawn rocket attack last
week on the eighth anniver-
sary of the start of the Six-
Day War. One person was
slightly injured and a fair
amount of damage was sus-
tained in the town near the
Lebanese border that has
long been a target of terror-
ist assaults.
One 230 mm. Katyusha
rocket struck the kindergar-
ten building which was
empty at the time damaging
several rooms and shatter-
ing windows in nearby
buildings. Other rockets
smashed windows and
knocked - out the town's elec-
tric system for a time. Some
rockets exploded in empty
areas setting off brush fires
that were quickly extin-
guished by civil defense
wardens and the local fire
brigade.
Residents of Kiryat
Shmona, aroused from sleep
by the explosions, took to
air raid shelters until the all
clear sounded. Artillery fire
was heard later in the morn-
ing, indicating that Israeli
forces were retaliating
against the sources of the
attack across the Lebanese
border.
Stringent security mea-
sures prevailed through-
out Isfael and expecially
in the border regions on
the Six-Day War anniver-
sary, an occasion for ter-
rorist attacks and sabo-
tage attempts. Several

companied by Chief of Staff
Gen. Mordechai Gur, to in-
spect the rocket damage.
Local townspeople urged
the construction of more
bomb shelters. Rabin met

An explosive charge con-
cealed in an iron pipe was
found by police Monday in
the area where Israeli sol-
diers killed a grenade-
throwing terrorist.
The device, attached to a
detonator and a watch, was
dismantled safely. The sol-
diers had been waiting at
the Beth-Lid road junction
to hitch rides to Natanya
when they were attacked
with two hand grenades and
small arms fire. The gren-
ades failed to explode and
the soldiers killed the assail-
ant.
The terrorist, whose
name was not released,
was identified as a resi-
dent of an Arab village
near Tulkarem. Border
police combed the area for
possible accomplices. A
suitcase found in a road-
side ditch contained an
automatic rifle.
Police detained the driver
of a car suspected of having
brought the terrorist to the
road junction from Shakwa,
a village near the West Bank
town of Tulkarem. Two
members of the terrorist's
family also were detained.

TORONTO (JTA) — The

There were no casualties.
Another Arab terrorist
was killed last week in Gaza
during a clash with an army
patrol. He was Ibrahim
Halil Bradawi, 32, who had
been wanted for some time,
the army announced.
Bradawi threw a hand
grenade at the Israeli
force, and as he was trying
to throw a second one, he
was shot and killed. There
were no Israeli casualties.
A Kalachnikov rifle, am-
munition and hand gren-
ades were found at the
spot.
In London, terrorist hi-
jacker Leila Khaled used an
appearance on a BBC televi-
sion interview program to
warn Diaspora Jewish lead-
ers who aid Israel that they

are targets for terrorist at-
tack.
Khaled, who participated
in an abortive attempt to hi-
jack an El Al airliner over
Britain several years ago,
refused to name the Jewish
leaders on the terrorist as-
sassination list "because
they would go into hiding."
She admitted, on the
"Man Alive" program
which is investigating ter-
rorism, that Palestinian
terrorists were responsible
for wounding J. Edward
Sieff, managing director of
the Marks and Spencer
department store two
years ago.
"Sieff is not only a Jew,
he is a Zionist. He helps Is-
rael as do many others
whose names we have and it
is not just the names of the
Rothschilds and Seiffs," the
female terrorist said.
