JFCS to Honor
Its Volunteers

Mrs. Joseph H. Jackier,
president of the Jewish
Family and Children's Serv-
ice, and Mrs. Milton Shiff-
man, chairman of the volun-
teer services committee of
that agency, will thank
JFCS volunteers at a lunch-
eon in their honor noon
Tuesday at Federation
Apartments, Oak Park.
The JFCS corps of volun-
teers numbers about 125,
which includes 12 male reti-
rees and students. The num-
ber of volunteers is still not
adequate to meet the many
requests for volunteer serv-
ice which come to the
agency, according to Mrs.
Jackier.
Volunteers serve as
friendly visitors to home-
bound individuals, as well as
to residents of nursing
homes; as shoppers and
drivers; as Big Brothers and
Sisters to youngsters living
in a single parent home; and
as translators for new-com-
ers to our community. Vol-
unteers also assist with the
problems of overcoming the
cultural shock experienced
by many of these families.
For information call the
Director of Volunteer Serv-
ices, Fayga Dombey, DI
1-5959.

Only through labor is one
at home in the world.
