BERKOWITZ

Rabbi H. Philip Berkow-
itz of Temple Beth Jacob of
Pontiac and' his wife, were
honored recently by the
temple on the occasion of
the rabbi's resignation to
take a pulpit in New Jersey.
Rabbi Berkowitz served as
spitirual leader of the con-
gregation for nine years.
He will be replaced by
Rabbi Jeffrey Ballon of Ty-
ler, Texas, who will assume
his duties Aug. 1. A gradu-
ate of Hebrew Union Col-
lege-Jewish Institute of Re-
ligion, Rabbi Ballon has
served his congregation five
years.

ment will present Hayim
Gross, Birmingham attor-
ney, 8 p.m. Tuesday in the
