to Re-Write 'Secret' Kissinger Volume

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The chief military censor
has refused an offer by jour-
nalist Matti Golan to re-
write his unpublished book,
"Confrontation and Disen-
gagement" to conform with
censorship requirements.
The decision is believed to
have been made directly by
Premier Yitzhak Rabin who
originally ordered the book
banned on grounds that it
contained secret material of

The incident created a
furor in Israel two weeks

a delicate nature that could
injure relations between Is-
rael and the United States.
It was learned that Golan
will appeal to the Supreme
Court for a reversal of the
censor's decision.

Golan's book purports to
contain ,verbatim tran-
scripts of conversations be-
tween Secretary of State
Henry A. Kissinger and for-
mer Premier Golda Meir,
and reportedly contains un-
flattering remarks made by
Kissinger about the heads of
several governments.
Golan was prepared to
write the book to conform
with the demands of the
censor and that he would do
the fe-writing in the cen-
sor's office so kijat he could
refer to his notes without
removing them from the
control of the authorities.
Meanwhile,,portions of
Golan's book were recently
released by Time Magazine.

Christian-Jewish
College Contacts
Are Increasing

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Hillel directors and Jewish
college students are talking
to their Christian peers on
American college campuses,
studying and exploring the
sources of each other's reli-
gious beliefs and traditions,
according to a report in
"Campus," a newsletter is-
sued by the Bnai Brith Hil-
lel Foundations.
Hundreds of course offer-
ings at Hillel's free Jewish
universities "on scores" of
campuses attract Christian
students while Hillel direc-
tors "and Christian campus
ministers sit on University
boards concerned with the
`moral character' of the
campus." The report said "a
growing awareness and re-
spect for religious differ-
ences are fostered by ecu-
menical Seders,
interreligious forums on
marriage, and joint action
on behalf of Soviet Jewry."
A Council of Religious
Advisors has been organized
at Wayne State University
in Detroit by Rabbi Max Ka-
pustin, the Hillel director,
and Catholic and Protestant
clergy. The council brings
leading Jewish and Chris-
tian scholars to the campus
"in a continuing effort to ex-
plore the theological and
historical sources of the var-
ious faiths."
