The community is invited

The board of governors of
the Flint Jewish Commu-
nity Council voted recently
to borrow $50,000 to help re-
lieve the Jewish Agency's
need for cash.
Betty Indianer, cash col-
lections chairman, spoke of
the $100 million needed to
meet "the skimpiest" of op-
erating budgets for the Jew-
ish Agency.
To relieve its economic
burden, the Jetvish Agency
is taking the following steps
in education alone:
• Postponing the exten-
sion of compulsory educa-
tion to the 10th grade;
• Increasing tuition
charges for kindergarten
and nursery schools;

• Cutting subsidies for
those on public assistance;
• Curtailing new school
construction; and
• Suspending university
construction in progress.
Mrs. Indianer said that in
order for the FJCC to bor-
row the $50,000, an assur-
ance of a cash flow into the
United Jewish Appeal is
needed. A letter has been
sent to those who have an
open balance for 1974 and
prior years.

than the grace of being per-
mitted to unfold to their
fullest bloom all the spirit-
ual powers planted within
us. — Franz Werfel
