BEERSHEBA (ZINS) —
A severe hamsin (dry spell)
that hit the Negev resulted
in serious damage to the
crops estimated at millions
of pounds. Wheat yields
dropped to between 120-180
kilograms per dunam, as
compared with the esti-
mated normal per dunam
yield of 350 kilograms.
Farmers are expected to
receive government subsi-
dies to make up for these
losses.

PARIS (JTA) — For the
first time since the Six-Day
War, Israel is participating
at the International Air
Show which opened May 30.
Israel Aircraft Industries,
the country's major aircraft
manufacturer, has a pavil-
lion of its own for the first
time in which it is display-
ing Israeli-made planes, a
variety,of missiles including
the surface-to-surface
"Gabriel" naval missile in
its new version, an armored
car and the new "Dabur" pa-
trol boat.

magicians.

It is the first time since
the French arms embargo of
1967 that an official Israeli
delegation has been invited
to the show and it indicates

not only the change in the
political climate but also,
according to most experts
here, France's desire to re-
sume its former commercial
relations with Israel.
French aeronautical cir-
cles here say France is pre-
pared not only to sell Israel
practically all the military

equipment it may want but
also to study the possibility
of credits.

Israel Aircraft Indus-
tries' contribution to the
show, the short take-off
and landing transport,
was co-piloted to Paris by
IAI's first woman aviator,
Mrs. Yael Nahmias.
