Henri Schilli, director of the
French Israelite Seminary,
died May 20. He was 69.

Rabbi Schilli finished his
studies at the seminary , in
1931, and held posts as sec-
retary general of the Paris
Consistory, director of the
Jewish chaplaincy in the
French army, and chaplain
of concentration camps in
France during World War

II.

He also was one of the
founders of the French-Jew-
ish Scouting Organization.
He became director of the
Israelite Seminary in 1951.
