World Bank Loan,
Senate Aid Israel

Senators Henry M. Jack-
son (D-Wash.), Hubert
Humphrey (D-Minn), Clif-
ford Case (R-NJ), James
Buckley (C-R-NY), and Har-
rison Williams (D-NJ) co-
sponsored the renewal mea-
sure.
The World Bank loan was

ance of this kind to be pro-
vided by the bank to a mem-
ber country.
Under the program, the
office of the chief scientist
in the Ministry of Com-
merce and Industry will
carry out technological, fi-
nancial and commercial
appraisal of research and

The remaining $5 mil-
lion of the World Bank
loan, the bank statement
said, will help finance the
expansion of training fa-
cilities and programs to
provide some 760 more
student places in three
technical engineering in-
stitutions and 850 addi-
tional student places in
four vocational training
centers.

According to the World
Bank statement, the loan to
Israel will bear interest at
eight-and-one half percent
per annum. Three previous
bank loans totaling $60 mil-
lion have helped Israel carry
out a variety of projects in
support of the country's in-
dustrial growth, the World
Bank said.

Jewish Cemetery
Destroyed in USSR

NEW YORK (JTA) — The
Greater New York Confer-
ence on Soviet Jewry
learned that another Jewish
cemetery in the Soviet
Union has been destroyed.
Malcolm Hoenlein, Con-
ference executive director,
said that the cemetery in
Sarin in the Ukraine has
been turned into a garbage
dump with a few grave-
stones still standing.
Earlier a road had been
paved through the cemetery
for use by a nearby military
installation. The cemetery
had been in relatively good
condition until a year ago.
Hoenlein also reported
that nearby to the cemetery
are three mass graves where
12,000 Sarini Jews, mur-
dered by the Nazis, are bur-
ied. The fences put around
the graves after World War
II have been removed and
the only marker, a large
gravestone in the center
grave, has been destroyed.
