NEW YORK — The Israel
Festival of Music and
Drania, a month long sched-
ule of performances featur-
ing internationally re-
nowned artists, will once
again be the cultural high-
light of Israel's tourist sea-
son.
According to Israel Zu-
riel, Israel Commissioner
for Tourism for North
America, the festival, which
will be held from July 12 to
Aug. 14 in Jerusalem, Tel
Aviv and in the recon-
structed Roman amphi-
theater in Caesarea, will
feature a number of Ameri-
- can artists and performers.
Among them will be .
Leonard Bernstein, con-
ducting the Israel Philhar-
monic in a program of his
own works; Zubin Mehta,
conducting a performance
of Verdi's opera "Aida" star-
ring Robert Merrill and fea-
turing the Israel Philhar-
monic Orchestra and the Tel
Aviv Philharmonic Choir;
The Dizzy Gillespie Jazz
Quartet; and the children's
theater group, The Paper
Bag Players.
Other featured perform-
ances will be offered by the
Jerusalem Symphony Or-
chestra, the Royal Winnipeg
Ballet, the Mummenschanz
Mime Theater of Switzer-
land and Les Percussions de
Strasbourg.

Theater Festival, featuring
simultaneous performances
in the main Hilberry
Theatre and the Studio
Theatre downstairs, will
include five productions in
repertory from July 2 to
Aug. 16.
The Hilberry graduate
repertory company will
present evening perform-
ances of the musical "Man
of La Mancha" under the di-
rection of Russell Smith,
with a July 10 opening
scheduled, and Paddy Chay-
efsky's comedy-drama "The
Tenth Man" under the direc-
tion of Richard Spear, open-
ing July 23. Afternoons the
company will perform .a
mime play for children,
"Johnny Moonbeam and the
Silver Arrow," directed by
Gary M. Witt and opening
July 3.
Downstairs in the Studio
Theatre, two other compa-
nies will alternate the musi-
cal "You're a Good Man
Charlie Brown," opening
July 2, and Jean Genet's
