Shaarey Zedek, acting chairman of the selection committee for the Fishman Foundation Israel Award, this week announced the winners of the foundation's Israel Scholarships. They are: Leslie M. Born- stein, Shaarey Zedek; Ronn Nadis, United Hebrew School; Michael Raizman, Shaarey Zedek; Lori Som- mers, Temple Israel; and Daniel Widenbaum, Beth Shalom. The students will each receive a $1,000 award from the Meyer and Nathan Fish- man Family Foundation to visit Israel in the summer of 1975 with a Jewish youth group of their choice. Appli- cants were judged on aca- demic achievement, leader- ship and community service. Four Michigan Region BBYOers will participate in the 20th annual BBYO Is- rael Summer Institute, which departs on June 23. The 45-day tour begins with a two-day orientation ses sion at Camp Bnai Brith in Starlight, Pa. Eilat BBYO, Ann Ar- bor, is planning several car washes in the Ann Arbor area to raise funds for their annual trip to a Tiger ball game with un- derprivileged kids. Each chapter member will take one underprivileged child in his charge and the en- tire group will attend a Tiger game at the end of May. Gan Dafna BBG, which had previously reached its membership limit, has split into two chapters. Both chapters are now open to new members in the South- field-Oak Park area. Shaarey Zedek's junior congregation saw more than 60 persons parti- cipate in its spring kibutz this past weekend at Camp Tamarack. The "Torah in the Wilderness" program included services, study groups, Israeli and -Ameri- can folk songs, dancing and sports. The junior congregation will have its installation May 20.
