The 125th anniversary
dinner meeting of Temple
Beth El will be held 8:30
p.m., June 11 in the Handle-
man Hall of the temple.
Guest speaker will be Leon-
ard N. Simons, communal
leader, president of the De-
troit Historical Society and
a past president of the tem-
ple.
A total of 109 members
who have been affiliated
with the temple for 50 years
or more will be honored at
the dinner meeting.
An exhibit from the
American Jewish Ar-
chives about the participa-
tion of Jews in the Ameri-
can Revolutionary War as
well as an exhibit relating
to the history of Temple
Beth El will be featured.
Following the dinner, will
be the election and installa-
tion of officers and trustees.

Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America held Mon-
day in New York.

• NEW YORK — Histad-
ruth Ivrith, the Hebrew
Language and Culture As-
sociation of America, re-
cently elected Rabbi Israel
Mowshowitz as national
president during its biennial
convention.
Rabbi Mowshowitz, past
president of the New York
Board of Rabbis, is known
as a Hebraist and Jewish
scholar.
He will also preside as the
head of the Hadoar Associa-
tion, which publishes the
54-year-old Hadoar, the
only Hebrew weekly ap-
pearing outside of Israel.
Rabbi Mowshowitz is the
spiritual leader of the Hill-
crest Jewish Center in
Queens, N.Y.
