Performances of works by
Michigan composers will be
among the highlights of the
first "American Music Sur-
vey" which will be presented
by Wayne State University
and the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra from Monday
through May 10 on the WSU
campus.
The survey, a major pro-
ject of both the university's
and orchestra's Bicenten-
nial activities, has been ap-
proved as an official project
by the City of Detroit Bicen-
tennial Commission and is
supported in part by a grant
from the National Endow-
ment for the Arts.
About 75 Detroit Sym-
phony musicians will parti-
cipate in the survey, with
the orchestra under the di-
rection of guest conductor
Lukas Foss.
