Mrs. Beck, who was born in Pittsburgh, has been as, sociated with Temple Beth El and its affiliates for more than 60 years. She was an associate of the late Mrs. Truman Newberry in activi- ties of Detroit's Infant Guild. A pioneer associate of the Jewish Woman's Club, which later became the Council of Jewish Women, Mrs. Beck played a role also in the Beth El Sisterhood and the other women's groups. Mrs. Beck, widow of Louis Beck, is the former Susan Garvett. She is a sis- ter of Joseph Garvett of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Sol Q. (Tillie Garvett) of Petal- uma, Calif.; mother of the late Irene Burns and of Her- ald Beck of Fresno, Calif.; grandmother of Philip Burns and Debby Beck. Social Club Plans Memorial Service The United Jewish Social Club will have its annual Yizkor service to honor the memory of the six million who perished in the Holo- caust 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Lubavitcher Center, 14000 W. Nine Mile, Oak Park. The club is comprised of Hungarian, Czechoslova- kian and Romanian survi- vors of the Holocaust. Rabbi Solomon Poupko will deliver the memorial address and Cantor Hyman Adler will chant the memo- rial prayers. The commu- nity is invited.
