The ninth annual Bnai
Brith Presidents Brunch
held Sunday at Beth Abra-
ham-Hillel Synagogue, in
cooperation with the Jewish
National Fund, launched
the fourth Detroit Bnai
Brith Forest of 10,000 trees
in Israel, in tribute to the
past presidents of the Men's
and Women's Councils, who
had served prior to 1966-67.
David Levine, president of
the Men's Council; and Mrs.
Maynard Kalef, immediate
past president of the Wom-
en's Council, were honored
with the planting of groves
of 1,000 trees in their
names. Each lodge and
chapter president was lion:-
ored with the planting of
gardens of 100 trees each.
Minister Yaacov Morris of
the Israeli Mission to the
U.N., said, "There is no rea-
son for despondency or de-
pression. Israel is stronger
than ever. The balance of
forces is in our favor. Our
nation is more united than
ever before.
"Israel wants peace, but
one thing it treasures more
than peace and that is se-
curity. We cannot go back
to the pre-1967 lines, nor
will we go back. Israel is
prepared to resume nego-
tiations but there are lim-
its to what we can give up.
