Reception Nets $147,000 for Bonds
More than $147,000 in Is-
rael Bonds were sold and
several new members en-
rolled in the exclusive Prime
Minister's Club this past
Sunday at a leadership re-
ception held in advance of
the April 23 ORT Israel
Bond Tribute honoring Mrs.
Irvin J. Kurtz.
Judith Beilin, a member
of Israel's ministry for for-
eign affairs and Israel Con
sul in New York, spoke on
the bleak economic situa-
Lion in Israel.
For reservations to the
April 23 event, call the Bond

Meanwhile, more than
$109,000 in Bonds were
purchased April 10 at the
annual Pioneer Women
Israel Bond Tribute
Luncheon celebrating the
25th anniversary of State
of Israel Bonds.
The luncheon, held at
Town and Country Club,
honored Mrs. Oscar Rappa-
port, an originallsrael Bond
organizer. Kamal Mansour,
adviser on minority affairs
to Israel President Ephraim
Katzir, addressed the lunch-
eon.
Mansour, a Druze, criti-
cized the Arab states for
failing to make any effort
toward peace, and refuted
the validity of Palestine Lib-
eration Organization claims
because it does not recog-
nize the state of Israel.
Mansour cited as proof
that Jews and Arabs can
live together in peace, the 12
percent of Israel's popula-
tion which is comprised of
Arabs.
"Israel does not force its
Arabs to assimilate or to
be Zionists," he said. "We
have the same citizenship
and rights as the Jews,
and we are completely free
to speak our own lan-
guage; follow our own cul-
ture, social acitivites and
methods of schooling."
He added that it is the
neighboring Arab countries
that prohibit Israeli Arabs
from entering their coun-
tries.
Mrs. Rappaport received
the David Ben-Gurion
Award "for devoted leader-
ship."
In other Bond events,
Katriel Katz, former Israel
ambassador to the Soviet
Union, will address a lead-
ership reception 7:30 p.m.

the article, said he suspects
that the rock was aimed at a

mistook for the author him-
self.
