Hearshen was a member of the Israel Histadrut Campaign Committee and is an active supporter of Israel Bonds, Jewish National Fund and the Allied Jewish Campaign. As a leader of the Labor Zionist movement, since the days of Young Poalei Zion, Hearshen worked with many of the "old-tim- ers," including David Ben-Gurion, Zalman Sha- zar - and Golda Meir. In 1931, when Ben-Gurion became ill while visiting Detroit to rally support for the Zionist cause, Hear- shen sat up the whole night with him to nurse the leader back to health. The bride, the former Lynne Elaine Schechter, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schechter of Southfield. She is a graduate of Wayne State University's medical school.
